CONVENINGS

Because of the complex oversight, broad scale, and varied uses of the river, myriad organizations, businesses, and individuals claim ownership and have a vested interest in what happens along the river. However, each entity tends to work in isolation, unaware of others’ work. To truly capitalize on the opportunities in front of us, someone must hold the center, bring the different plans and players together, and form a coherent approach.

In that spirit, the Great River Passage Conservancy’s convenings have brought together more than 100 partners, including political leaders, Dakota tribal leadership, institutional leaders from City of Saint Paul, Ramsey County, Met Council and State Department of Natural Resources, and nonprofits such as the Center for Humanities, Friends of the Mississippi River, and Common Roots.
